Presentations:
Applets on functions
Topic: Bounded sets; straight lines and their slope
Exercises:
- In section
Bounded sets (Beschränkte Mengen) all illustrating pictures are
missing. Give examples for and against the terms listed below. Provide
mathematical as well as real-world examples. Highlight explicitly and
graphically the differences between the listed terms. Think about, why pupils
and students have difficulties to distinguish these terms. How to help them?
Work out your ideas. Use any plotter you like for functions. (*)
- different upper bounds (Verschiedene obere Schranken)
- maximum (Maximum)
- maximum and minimum of functions (Maximum und Minimum von Funktionen)
- upper bound and supremum (Obere Schranken und Supremum)
- Lemma
- Work out the section
straight lines and their slope (Geraden und ihre Steigung) and give the
point-slope form of the linear equation (Punktsteigerungsform der Geradengleichung) of the
following exercises (choose two for delivery) (**):
Follow during your calculation Polya's frame and
explicitly show what is given and what is unknown. Moreover, provide more
detail by drawing the function graph. Record exactly your calculation steps - not only
the correct ones but also the ones leading to an impasse. What is the
relation between point-slope form and a derivation of a function? Make up your own
exercise example and explain, why it is so interesting.
