HIWI Positions

Assembly of Learning Items

Supervisor: Martin Homik

ActiveMath provides a means for authors to assembly books based on learning items stored in ActiveMath's repository. Another way to create a course is to ask the course generator to build a tailored book according to the learner's goals and current knowledge. However, both ways do not provide the facility for students to create their own books and to work with content and its structure actively. This task is solved by ActiveMath's assembly tool. Actually this tool has much more potential than the mere assembly of ActiveMath's learning items. The task for this position is as follows:

  • enhance the assembly tool;
  • provide sharing of books;
  • integrate external objects;
  • provide a means for collaboration, and
  • distinguish between an assembly tool for students and one for teachers.

LMS integration

Supervisor: Stefan Winterstein

In order to integrate ActiveMath with other learning management systems (such as Moodle, Clix and Sakai), we want to extend our system towards single-signon, authentication tickets, web application deployment and data exchange. Other areas of work are improvements to our administration tools for user and group management.

Wishing to work with us?

We are constantly looking for exceptionnal profiles with abilities in the development of the technologies and content we work for (see other pages). Should you feel it could be the case, file us our curriculum vitae.

Working in the ActiveMath team is an international, high-class scientific work involving many new technologies. We look forward to hear from you.
