There is a strong relationship to the MathML recommendation from the Worldwide Web Consortium, and a large overlap between the two developer communities. The ActiveMath group employs an exetended version of Omdoc. It extends OmDoc by pedagogical anotation. OmDoc extends OpenMath by content items and metadata. Content items are grouped in concept and additional items. Concept items comprise for instance definitions, assertions, axioms and some more. Additional items, such as examples, motivations, exercises or elaborations support pedagogically concept items. Metadata provides a more detailed description of items. For example, by metadata we can express difficulty or abstractness of an item. Moreover an item can target a specific group, originating from a specific field or learning context.
